Presenter will discuss research and best practices in Spanish literacy intervention, eliciting examples and feeedback on the practices of participants regarding what they have done or been required to do, what works, what does not. Presenter will model the components of a successful literacy intervention program; share culturally relevant literature; authentic assessment; how intervention fits into bilingual and dual language programs; skills that are tranferable from Spanish to English. Participants will leave able to distinguish between intervention and remediation as well as be able to evaluate Spanish literacy intervention offerings.
